PT Azaki Food International is consistently developing its products to meet global market demands. The company, established in 2019, has successfully expanded the export reach of its processed tempeh products to 12 countries.

PT Azaki Food International is one of the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the processed food sector that produces various tempeh-based foods, such as frozen tempeh, tempe chips, protein crunchy bites, and ready-to-eat tempeh meals with diverse flavours.

A key milestone in the company’s export journey began in 2021 with its first export shipment to Japan. That country is known for its strict standards regarding product quality, food safety, and production consistency. Successfully penetrating the Japanese market represents a strategic achievement that shows Indonesian processed tempeh products can compete at the international level.

To meet those standards, PT Azaki Food International has made various adjustments, from improving production systems and strengthening quality control to innovating products and packaging tailored to global consumer preferences. These efforts form part of the company’s strategy to sustainably expand export markets.

The President Director of PT Azaki Food International, Cucup Ruhiyat, stated that the success in entering the Japanese market is the result of a long preparation process. “Japan is a strategic market with high quality standards. Our success in entering that market is proof that our products can compete globally,” he said.

Following Japan, PT Azaki Food International’s products have also reached various other countries, including Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, and Canada. Currently, the total number of export destination countries for the company has reached 12. This achievement is supported by a gradual market expansion strategy through strengthening marketing units and developing international distribution networks.

Despite recording various achievements, the company continues to innovate its products, both in terms of types and flavour variants. This step is taken to expand exports to several new countries, such as France, Chile, and some countries in the African region.

The export growth achieved by the company also has a positive impact on the local economy. Increased production capacity has driven the absorption of local labour, from production processes and packaging to distribution. Additionally, the company involves small businesses as partners in the supply chain to strengthen the local economic ecosystem.

In the export development process, PT Azaki Food International has received support from Bogor Customs through the export-oriented MSME assistance programme. The assistance provided includes education on export regulations, fulfilment of customs documents, and technical assistance related to the shipment process abroad. Through this support, the company can enhance its understanding of export procedures and ensure the smooth delivery of products to international markets.

Looking ahead, PT Azaki Food International is committed to continuing innovation and expanding its export network to more countries. The company is optimistic that traditional tempeh-based food products can become increasingly known in the global market while strengthening the role of Indonesian MSMEs in international trade.
