Ayu, Septi post Challenger wins

JAKARTA: Local players Ayu Fani Damayanti, Septi Mende and
Patricia Soesilo advanced to the second round of the US$25,000
Women's Challenger at the Hilton hotel's hard courts in Central
Jakarta on Tuesday.

Ayu, 16, came through with a straightforward 6-2, 6-2 win over
local qualifier Angelika Jogasuria. She next plays second seed
Chan Yung-jan from Chinese Taipei, who thrashed local wildcard
Jessy Rompies 6-1, 6-0.

Patricia beat Italian Martina Caciotti 6-4, 6-2, while Septi
was forced to fight for her victory, finally overcoming Deborah
Armstrong from Britain 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, Antara news service
reported.

National number two Wynne Prakusya, seeded fifth in the
tournament, plays compatriot Maya Rosa on Wednesday. -- JP
