An ayam geprek stall on Jalan Tipar Cakung, Sukapura, Cilincing, North Jakarta, has been affected by a fire. A total of six fire engines and 40 personnel were deployed to the location to extinguish the flames.

“The object on fire was a food stall, and we deployed six units and 40 personnel,” said Gatot Sulaeman, Head of Operations for the North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Fire and Rescue Department, as reported by Antara on Friday (18/09/2026).

Gatot stated that the area affected by the fire was approximately six square metres, with estimated losses reaching Rp 2 million. “Thankfully, there were no casualties in this incident. One family, consisting of two individuals, was saved,” he added.

The fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit that triggered sparks, causing the flames to spread rapidly. The incident was first discovered by the stall owner, Indriyani, upon returning from the market after purchasing cooking ingredients.

Upon opening the stall door, Indriyani saw large flames rising from a refrigerator inside the shop. She then shouted to alert nearby residents to help extinguish the fire.

As the flames continued to grow, residents contacted the fire brigade. The North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-Department received the report at 06:03 WIB and immediately dispatched officers to the scene.

Firefighters began extinguishing the blaze at 06:11 WIB, localising the fire source before moving into the cooling phase. The fire was fully extinguished by 06:30 WIB.

“Alhamdulillah, the firefighting was successfully carried out in a safe and smooth manner,” said Gatot.
