Awaiting Xpeng’s New Car in Indonesia, Between SUV and MPV
JAKARTA — The plan to expand Xpeng’s product lineup in Indonesia is beginning to take shape. The Chinese electric-vehicle maker has signalled it will add new models, particularly in the MPV and SUV segments that are seen as suited to the character of the Indonesian market.
Currently, G6 and X9 are the two main models marketed in Indonesia. They sit at different price points, around Rp 600 million for the G6 and Rp 1.3 billion for the X9.
Xpeng Indonesia vice president of marketing Hari Arifianto said Xpeng indeed wants to add new variants to fill market gaps that have not yet been filled. This also relates to market response deemed positive towards Xpeng’s products.
One model that drew attention was the Xpeng G9, a large electric SUV that was showcased at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025.
Its appearance at the time sparked speculation that the model could be marketed in Indonesia.
According to Hari, the current price range of Xpeng’s products still leaves room for other models. With the G6 in the vicinity of Rp 600 million and the X9 around Rp 1.3 billion, there is still a price segment that could be filled by a new model.
He added that Xpeng wants to offer more model choices so its product portfolio is not limited to just two cars.
“The aim is to promptly bring in new variants to fill price niches and variants we do not yet have. It would be a pity if there were only two; they’d like to add more,” Hari said.
On pricing possibilities, Hari noted that various segment combinations remain open to exploration. For example, a premium SUV priced near the X9 or conversely, an MPV priced close to the G6 at around Rp 600 million.
