Awaiting Jokowi's Return to the Political Arena in June
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Seventh President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is said to have recovered 99 percent and will return to the political arena to tour Indonesia starting in June 2026.
Projo General Secretary Freddy Alex Damanik claimed to have heard the plan directly from Jokowi during a meeting with several volunteers on 1 May 2026.
“Mr Jokowi conveyed several matters to his volunteers. First, his health has recovered 99 percent, and he plans to tour Indonesia again next month (June) to greet the public. Mr Jokowi will be accompanied by his volunteers when visiting a region,” Freddy told Kompas.com on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
Freddy mentioned that the two discussed the continuity of Jokowi’s government programmes in the current administration.
“As political figures, they also discussed the current political situation and conditions,” he said.
According to Freddy, to this day, Jokowi is still frequently visited by the public and community leaders, including village heads from across Indonesia.
Not only that, Jokowi is also regularly sent reports and survey results on the current social, political, and economic conditions in Indonesia.
“Therefore, Mr Jokowi conveyed to his volunteers to always help the public and to always be prepared for any situation,” Freddy stated.
Previously, Jokowi had emphasised that he would work tirelessly and be ready to return to the political arena for the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI).
“Brothers, work hard for PSI, I too will work hard for PSI. Brothers, work to the death for PSI, I too will work to the death for PSI,” Jokowi shouted while attending the first National Work Meeting (Rakernas) of PSI at Hotel Claro, Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Saturday (31/1/2026).
“Brothers, work all out for PSI, I too will work all out for PSI,” he continued.
Jokowi then reminded PSI to strengthen its structure to reach the grassroots level.
Jokowi also stated that he is still capable if PSI needs him to return to the political arena.
