BPJS Kesehatan is still awaiting a government decision regarding the planned write-off of National Health Insurance premium arrears worth IDR 14 trillion. The policy is expected to target around 23 million participants. BPJS Kesehatan President Director Prihati Pujowaskito said the regulation related to the arrears amnesty plan has not yet been realised. However, he hopes the process can be implemented soon. “Not yet, it hasn’t been signed. Let’s wait together. Hopefully it will be signed soon,” Prihati said at the DPR RI complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (19/6/2026). According to Prihati, the arrears to be written off are those of participants who have defaulted for a long period. Even so, he hopes participants will not default again after the amnesty. “Whoever has arrears, if it is signed, it will be written off. But those who are able to pay contributions must continue as active participants and not repeat the default,” he said. Previously, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa confirmed that the plan to whiten or write off BPJS Kesehatan participants’ premium arrears had been approved. It is currently just awaiting a Presidential Regulation. “It has been approved, it’s just a matter of the details of the Presidential Regulation, if I’m not mistaken,” Purbaya said at The Tribrata Dharmawangsa, South Jakarta, on Thursday (12/2/2026). Purbaya explained that his party had transferred IDR 20 trillion to BPJS Kesehatan so that the programme could be executed. “The money has been sent to BPJS, so they can execute it at any time. I have disbursed, if I’m not mistaken, IDR 20 trillion,” Purbaya said.
