Avtur Prices Rise, Bahlil: Compared to Other Countries, We Are Still Far More Competitive

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, has emphasised that aviation fuel (avtur) prices in Indonesia remain competitive despite an increase following global market dynamics.

According to Bahlil, the determination of avtur prices is tied to international market mechanisms, as Indonesia also serves the refuelling needs of international flights.

“Avtur prices are indeed market prices, and automatically, since this also serves global avtur refuelling for aircraft from abroad that enter, the mechanism that occurs is the market mechanism,” said Bahlil at the Ministry of ESDM on Monday (6/4/2026).

“There is indeed an increase from Pertamina, but this increase compared to avtur prices in other countries, especially neighbours, we are still far more competitive,” added Bahlil.

Previously, the surge in aviation fuel prices was triggered by escalating geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East, which disrupted global energy supplies.

This situation has led to a sharp rise in avtur prices both in the domestic and international markets, exerting significant pressure on the aviation industry.

Citing Pertamina data, avtur prices at Soekarno-Hatta Airport (CGK) on 1 April 2026 reached Rp 23,551 per litre, a 72.4% jump from March’s Rp 13,656 per litre.

Meanwhile, international prices increased by 80.3% from US$0.7 per litre to US$1.338 per litre.
