Avtur Price Increase, Menhaj Assures Hajj Pilgrims Depart on Schedule 22 April

Minister of Hajj and Umrah (Menhaj) Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, or Gus Irfan, has assured that the increase in avtur prices will not impact the departure of Hajj pilgrims. The departure of Hajj pilgrims will proceed according to the determined schedule. “There is no (impact on the departure of pilgrims). None. The dispatch will remain according to schedule. 21 April enter the dormitory, 22 April depart,” said Irfan at the parliamentary complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (14/4/2026). Furthermore, regarding the additional Hajj costs due to the rise in avtur prices, Gus Irfan stated that it will not be charged to the pilgrims. Instead, it will be covered by state finances, with the technical details to be determined later. “It was mentioned earlier that state finances. State finances can come from the APBN or others. But in general, we are ready for state funding,” he said. Irfan revealed that this additional cost does not need to be paid immediately. His side is also still negotiating to determine the actual increase in flight prices. “No, it doesn’t have to be paid now, of course there are some, we are also still negotiating with Garuda aircraft and Saudi about the real figures that we need to adjust,” he said. Gus Irfan had previously assured that the distribution of luggage to Hajj pilgrims would be completed by 17 April. The Menhaj team has issued warnings to the companies distributing this luggage due to the delays that occurred. “The distribution at the latest by 17 April will be in the hands of the pilgrims. Regarding the luggage, we have sent a warning letter and also sent an assistance team to monitor and help with the luggage distribution,” said Irfan during a working meeting with Commission VIII of the DPR RI at the parliamentary complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (14/4/2026). The Menhaj team has visited one company in Bogor, which was one of the causes of the delay in luggage distribution. Menhaj has also sent letters to airlines regarding this delay.
