Avtur Price Increase Drives Bali Inflation in April 2026
The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded Bali’s monthly inflation for April 2026 at 0.01 per cent. This inflation was primarily triggered by the rise in avtur prices, which impacted air transport fares.
The Head of BPS Bali Province, Agus Gede Hendrayana Hermawan, stated that air transport commodities were the largest contributors to inflation. The fare increase reached 32.74 per cent with a contribution of 0.08 per cent, in line with the rise in avtur prices.
“Overall, April 2026 inflation was driven by the increase in air transport service prices due to the rise in avtur prices, with inflation of 32.74 per cent,” said the Head of BPS Bali, Agus Gede Hendrayana Hermawan, on Monday (4/5/2026).
In addition to air transport, several other commodities also contributed to inflation. Rice experienced 1.16 per cent inflation with a 0.06 per cent contribution. Meanwhile, cooking oil rose 3.19 per cent with a 0.05 per cent contribution.
On the other hand, some commodities experienced price decreases and restrained the inflation rate. Bird’s eye chillies saw deflation of 27.63 per cent with a 0.22 per cent contribution. Broiler chicken meat also experienced 4.77 per cent deflation with a 0.14 per cent contribution. Additionally, green mustard greens fell 19.86 per cent with a 0.03 per cent contribution.
By region, the highest inflation in April 2026 occurred in the City of Denpasar. Meanwhile, the deepest deflation was recorded in Tabanan Regency and Badung Regency.
“In April 2026, the highest inflation rate was recorded in the City of Denpasar at 0.19 per cent, while the deepest deflation occurred in Tabanan Regency and Badung Regency at 0.17 per cent,” he said.
