Avoiding Price Wars, GAC Focuses on Quality and Service
Jakarta (ANTARA) - GAC International President Wei Haigang has emphasised that his company has the right strategy for the vehicle brand under GAC’s umbrella.
He stated this to ANTARA on the sidelines of the Beijing Auto Show 2026 some time ago.
Although he does not deny it, the vehicle price war in China cannot be ignored, but his side remains committed to delivering valuable and high-quality products.
“Our strategy, indeed in China the price war is actually even more severe than in ASEAN, but our strategy with Indomobil is that we do not want to join the price war from other brands, we must position our pricing strategy correctly. We are not just to provide products that have value, that have value in price and quality, so we focus more on value rather than cheap prices,” he said.
His side also prioritises good vehicle servicing for consumers. “And we also prioritise service, so a low price does not necessarily mean good service, so we focus on service with valuable pricing for consumers,” he added.
According to him, price wars are not the right step for business sustainability. Furthermore, his side sees Indonesia as an important market for GAC, hence the collaboration with Indomobil is expected to enable GAC to grow and make this brand number one in the ASEAN region.
As is known, price wars remain a strategy launched by vehicle manufacturers including in the Indonesian electric car market, especially those carried out by many Chinese manufacturers.
This is done to boost sales and expand consumer reach.
