Aviation fuel (avtur) consumption at 15 airports across the East Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara region is predicted to decline by 6.1 per cent during the Ramadan period through Eid al-Fitr. PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has confirmed that avtur supplies are adequate during the holiday travel season, from 9 March to 1 April 2026.

“We have also prepared avtur supplies with adequate capacity, particularly given the high volume of flights during the outbound and return holiday travel periods,” stated Ahad Rahedi, Area Manager for Communication, Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility at Jatimbalinus PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, on Thursday (12 March 2026).

“Avtur consumption for flights in the Jatimbalinus region is this time predicted to fall by 6.1 per cent from the average normal daily rate of 3,316 kilolitres per day,” he added.

According to Ahad, the decline in avtur consumption is influenced by the absence of commercial flights at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali during Nyepi, the Balinese Day of Silence. Additionally, there are flight cancellations to several countries due to closure of the eastern Middle East airspace route.

Ngurah Rai Airport will temporarily suspend flight operations during Nyepi on 19 March 2026. Approximately 440 aircraft movements will not operate during this period.

“There will be approximately 440 movements, or aircraft, that will cease operations during the Nyepi observance,” stated Goentoro, from the Airport Operation and Security Services at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, on Saturday (8 March).

Goentoro explained that airport management has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) regarding the suspension of airport operations during Nyepi. Ngurah Rai Airport will close from 06:00 Western Indonesia Time on 19 March. Airport operations will resume the following day.

“We issued the NOTAM well in advance regarding the Nyepi observance that will run from 19 to 20 March for 24 hours,” he added.

Separately, Ngurah Rai Airport is predicted to serve approximately 1.1 million passengers during the 2026 Eid holiday period. The Eid travel period is estimated to last 18 days, from 13 to 30 March 2026.

The passenger figure is estimated to reach 1,130,436 people with 6,742 aircraft movements. The peak outbound holiday travel at Ngurah Rai Airport is predicted to occur on 18 March, one day before Nyepi, and the peak return travel on 28 March 2026.
