Avanza Driver Attacked by Mob Following Accident in Bekasi Dies

BEKASI – Mulyadi (55), driver of a Toyota Avanza who became the target of mob violence following a traffic accident near Ruko Bekasi Mas in Margajaya District, South Bekasi Sub-district, Bekasi City, has died.

The information was confirmed by the Head of Law Enforcement Unit (Kanit Gakkum) of Satlantas Polres Metro Bekasi Kota, Iptu Rojali.

“Yes, he passed away yesterday,” said Rojali when contacted by Kompas.com on Friday (27 February 2026).

According to Aldy, the victim’s son, Mulyadi was forcibly taken home by his family for home treatment on Thursday (26 February 2026) at around 05:00 WIB. However, on the same day at around 10:00 WIB, Mulyadi was brought back to Dr. Chasbullah Abdulmadjid General Hospital for medical treatment.

“At approximately 13:35, Mr. Mulyadi was declared dead at Dr. Chasbullah Abdulmadjid Hospital,” said Rojali.

The accident began when the Toyota Avanza driven by Mulyadi was travelling from the Islamic Centre (south) towards Bekasi City Government (north). Upon reaching the scene, the vehicle suddenly veered to the left and struck parking attendant Jumi (56) and a concrete barrier.

According to Rojali, part of the vehicle’s body mounted the pavement. When attempting to reverse, the vehicle struck a Honda Supra 125 motorcycle driven by Suyatno and a Honda Vario 160 ridden by Aditya Heri Pratama. The vehicle then veered to the right, hitting a motorcycle belonging to Fandi Satia Engge and a Honda Beat driven by Firman Afala.

As a result of the incident, Jumi sustained serious injuries and was taken to Hermina Hospital in Bekasi City. Several vehicles involved in the accident suffered severe damage. Four motorcycles involved were taken to Polres Metro Bekasi Kota for documentation purposes.
