Avanza Driver Attacked by Mob After Hitting Motorbikes in Bekasi, No Police Report Filed
BEKASI, KOMPAS.com – The Head of the Traffic Law Enforcement Unit (Kanit Gakkum) of the Bekasi City Metro Police, Iptu Rojali, confirmed that no report has been filed regarding the anarchic actions of the mob during the accident involving a Toyota Avanza with license plate number B-2660-UYM owned by Mulyadi (55) and several motorbike riders.
The accident occurred near the Bekasi Mas shopping complex, Margajaya Village, South Bekasi District, Bekasi City, on Wednesday (25/2/2026).
“For the time being, there is no police report regarding the anarchic actions carried out by the people,” said Rojali when confirmed by Kompas.com, Thursday (26/2/2026).
“Upon arriving at the location, the car driven by Mulyadi suddenly swerved to the left, hitting a parking attendant named Jumi (56) and a concrete barrier,” said Rojali.
According to him, part of the car ended up on the sidewalk. When trying to reverse, the vehicle instead hit a Honda Supra 125 motorbike ridden by Suyatno and a Vario 160 motorbike ridden by Aditya Heri Pratama.
Rojali said that the Toyota Avanza then tried to drive forward again. However, the vehicle swerved to the right again, hitting a motorbike belonging to Fandi Satia Engge and a Honda Beat ridden by Firman Afala.
“As a result of the incident, Jumi suffered serious injuries. The victim was then taken to Hermina Hospital in Bekasi City. And several of the vehicles involved suffered severe damage,” said Rojali.
The four motorbikes involved were temporarily secured at the Bekasi City Metro Police for data collection purposes.
“They all agreed to discuss the matter and will not file a police report,” said Rojali.
For information, the incident went viral on social media after being uploaded to the Instagram account @lbj_jakarta and received various comments from netizens.
In the video that went viral, several residents were seen stopping to see the condition of the accident. Shortly after, a mob gathered and expressed their anger by damaging parts of the Toyota car.
Several people were seen breaking the windshield wipers, damaging the mirrors, bringing stones, and trying to break the car windows.
