Autotheft suspect found with stolen car

JAKARTA: The Jakarta Police found a stolen car on Tuesday as they were arresting an autotheft suspect at his house in Condet, East Jakarta.

"We found a stolen Mitsubishi Kuda van at the house of suspect Eff. He told us he had sold four other stolen cars to different people," city police autotheft division chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Eddy Tambunan said on Wednesday.

The four stolen vehicles were a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, a Honda City and two Isuzu Panthers.

Tambunan said the four buyers claimed they did not know the cars were stolen. "They said they bought the cars at market price. They also said the seller gave them registration papers and numbers."

He said the police were still looking for four other suspects who worked with Eff in an autotheft ring. -- JP
