Autopsy Results Released for Sukabumi Boy Who Died in Suspected Stepmother Abuse Case
A 12-year-old boy identified by the initials NS from Bojongsari Village, Jampangkulon District, Sukabumi Regency, died after allegedly being abused by his stepmother. Autopsy results revealed burn injuries across nearly his entire body.
“A 12-year-old child was found with burns on the extremities, on the left leg, and several injuries on the back. Burns were also found in the lip and nose area, suspected to have been caused by heat,” said the Head of Bhayangkara Hospital Level II at the National Police Education and Training Institute in Sukabumi, Commissioner Carles Siagian, on Saturday (21 February 2026).
Commissioner Siagian stated that the burns were spread across the body, including the arms, legs, thighs and hands. However, his team has not yet been able to confirm whether the injuries were the result of abuse.
“We cannot state whether this constitutes violence or not. It appears to be heat exposure that caused the burns,” he added.
Despite the presence of burns, the forensic team has not yet been able to conclude the exact cause of the victim’s death. According to Siagian, the injuries should not theoretically have caused death.
“The cause of death cannot yet be concluded because these injuries should not have caused death,” he said.
Victim’s Skin Found Blistered
The incident came to light through the boy’s biological father, Anwar Satibi (38). At the time, Anwar was working as a dental technician in Sukabumi City when his wife contacted him and asked him to come home.
“I received a call saying, ‘Come home, Raja is unwell, he’s delirious with fever.’ That’s what my wife said,” Anwar recounted.
Upon arriving home, Anwar was shocked to find his son’s condition. NS’s skin was reportedly blistered in several areas of his body, with multiple bruises also visible.
“When I got home I was shocked — my child’s skin was already blistered. I asked what happened. She [his wife] answered, ‘He’s got a fever, that’s why it’s blistered,’” he said.
Initially, Anwar believed the injuries were caused by an ordinary fever. He even intended to buy ointment. Later that day, NS was taken to hospital. During the process, a relative arrived and questioned NS directly.
“When asked, he admitted that he had been made to drink hot water [by his stepmother]. That’s why in the video I momentarily lost control,” Anwar said.
