Autopsy Results Confirm Man Found Dead in South Jakarta Died from Gunshot Wound to Head

Police have determined that a man identified as BA (53), found with a gunshot wound to the head, died by suicide. Autopsy results revealed that the victim’s death was caused by a gunshot wound to the head.

“Based on the initial crime scene examination and autopsy results from the Forensic Team of Bhayangkara RS TK I Pusdokes Polri, the cause of death was due to a gunshot wound to the head that resulted in extensive damage to brain tissue,” stated Pesanggrahan District Police Chief Kompol Seala Syah Alam in his statement on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

Seala stated that based on the forensic examination results, no signs of violence were found on the victim’s body other than the gunshot wound. He also confirmed there were no criminal elements in the victim’s death.

“As the Police, we express our condolences on the passing of the deceased on 6 March 2026 at 1:30 p.m. WIB, which is believed to have been caused by suicide,” he said.

Meanwhile, Forensic Doctor at Polri Kramat Jati Hospital, dr Farah P Karouw, SpFM, stated that the body was received on Friday (6 March) at approximately 7:00 p.m. WIB. One hour after receiving the body, the hospital received a letter requesting a visual examination and autopsy from Pesanggrahan Police Station.

“We also received a consent statement from the family to conduct the autopsy,” said dr Farah.

Farah reported that the autopsy revealed a gunshot wound on two sides of the head. He also confirmed there were no other wounds besides these two.

“From the autopsy results we found one entry wound on the right temple, and one exit gunshot wound at the back of the head on the left side,” he said.

From the autopsy examination, a fractured skull in fragments reaching the skull base and bleeding in brain tissue were also found.

“From the medical perspective, we conclude that the cause of death was due to a gunshot wound to the head that caused the skull to fracture and brain tissue bleeding, resulting in extensive damage to brain tissue,” explained dr Farah.

The victim was found dead in the office of his residence on Jalan Deplu, Bintaro Village, Pesanggrahan District, South Jakarta on Friday (6 March) at approximately 1:30 p.m. WIB. The incident was first discovered by a domestic helper after hearing a dog barking continuously around the house.

Police conducted a crime scene investigation and secured several pieces of evidence at the location, including one Glock 17 semi-automatic pistol calibre 9 mm, 1 cartridge casing calibre 9 mm, 1 magazine containing 4 rounds calibre 9 mm, 1 Glock 17 airsoft gun calibre 4.5 mm, 1 HK MP7 airsoft rifle calibre 4.5 mm, 4 magazines calibre 4.5 mm, 3 mobile phones, 1 shooting club membership card, 3 bundles of documents, and 3 flash drives.
