Autopsy Refused, Police Proceed with Investigation into Australian Man Who Killed Two Children in Legian

Police are proceeding with a case review regarding the discovery of three bodies in Legian, Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, even though the family has not authorised an autopsy on the victims. The case review is deemed mandatory to complete the administrative process in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (S_OP).

The three deceased individuals are an Australian man, identified by the initials SDJ, and his two children, ADS (6) and LKS (4). All three bodies have been returned to the family for burial.

The Head of Public Relations for Denpasar Police, Iptu I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, stated that the case review must be conducted regardless of whether a criminal act is officially confirmed. This procedure remains necessary even though SDJ, the suspected perpetrator, has also passed away.

“Whether or not a criminal offence has occurred, the review must be conducted and documented administratively according to the SOP,” he stated when contacted on Wednesday (16/09/2026).

Based on initial investigations of CCTV footage, SDJ is suspected of murdering his two children before ending his own life. Police have not yet found additional physical evidence related to the case.

Adi did not disclose the exact timing for the case review but mentioned that the activity would take place in the near future. During the review, SDJ’s wife, TY (32), will also be summoned.

“The relevant parties will be invited during the review process,” he added.

Meanwhile, the strongest evidence obtained by the police so far is CCTV footage. The recordings capture the moments of the alleged murders committed by SDJ against his children, as well as his subsequent act of suicide.
