Autonomy Expo in JCC

JAKARTA (JP): The Ministry of Home Affairs and Regional
Autonomy in cooperation with PT Wahyu Promocitra will stage an
exposition and seminars at the Jakarta Convention Center from
Feb. 28 until March 2 to promote regional autonomy and the
attractions of the various regions to local and foreign
investors.

Promocitra president Muhammad Syukur Sakka said here on Monday
that at least 60 provincial and district administrations would
participate in the event titled Regional Potential Expo 2001.

"The provincial and regency administrations will highlight
their own attractions and offer numerous facilities in various
fields, especially as regards business permits, so as to lure
domestic and foreign investors," he explained.

He said that around 2,000 local and foreign investors had been
invited to the event.

Syukur said that the seminar on regional autonomy would
feature National Planning Board (Bappenas) chairman Junaidi
Hadisumarto, Director General of Taxes Hadi Poernomo, chairman of
the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) Aburizal Bakrie,
former finance minister Bambang Sudibyo and former minister of
regional autonomy Ryaas Rasyid.

Minister of Home Affairs and Regional Autonomy Surjadi
Sudirdja is slated to open the event. (rms)
