Authority Seeks to Develop Energy Ecosystem in Nusantara Capital
Penajam Paser Utara — The Nusantara Capital Authority (Otorita IKN) is working to establish an energy ecosystem in Indonesia’s new capital city being built across parts of Penajam Paser Utara District and Kutai Kartanegara District in East Kalimantan Province.
“IKN development does not focus solely on physical infrastructure,” said IKN Authority Head Basuki Hadimuljono in Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara, on Sunday.
Rather, he said, it also focuses on energy ecosystem sustainability and competitive business conditions.
The region includes the Senipah, Peciko, and South Mahakam (SPS) oil and gas fields located in Kutai Kartanegara District within the IKN zone.
“Inter-agency synergy and licensing in support of business sector operations in IKN are extremely important,” he said.
The IKN Authority is ensuring licensing support for activities carried out by PT PHM, such that collaboration will improve further and facilitate the company in conducting operations and production going forward.
The IKN Authority and PT PHM also discussed various opportunities for cooperation and collaboration on IKN development and the Nusantara Economic Superhub (SEN). Discussions included each institution’s flagship programmes and potential collaboration in the environmental sector and strengthening steps to diversify economic sectors in IKN.
General Manager of PT PHM, Setyo Sapto Edi said the IKN Authority is supporting the smooth operation of the company, enabling it to conduct operations optimally going forward.
Streamlined licensing, now centralised under the IKN Authority, is one of the key factors supporting the company’s operational activities. PT PHM continues to support energy independence to advance Indonesia’s new capital city.
