Authority opens opportunities for academic community involvement in IKN development
Penajam Paser Utara - The IKN Authority is opening opportunities for the involvement of the academic community (sivitas akademika) in the development of Indonesia’s new capital in parts of Penajam Paser Utara Regency and Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province. “Direct involvement of the academic community is important in the development process,” said the Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, in Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara, on Saturday. The cooperation includes human resource development, empowerment of expertise through education and training, implementation of scientific studies and research, community service, and various other programmes that have been agreed upon. The IKN Authority appreciates the commitment of Hasanuddin University in supporting IKN development and will provide support if they plan to develop a campus in IKN. The cooperation that has been carried out will be followed up through various strategic programmes, including the provision of educational affirmative pathways, development of educational and research forests, and initiatives to establish business centres that support the IKN ecosystem. “In the future, student involvement will be encouraged to contribute directly,” said Basuki Hadimuljono. Hasanuddin University is expected to play an objective and knowledge-based role in supporting IKN development, while also serving as a source of inspiration for the younger generation in building Indonesia’s future city. “For the IKN buffer areas, special affirmative programmes are being prepared, especially those relevant to IKN development,” said the Rector of Hasanuddin University (Unhas), Jamaluddin Jompa.
