Author Ahmad Bahar's Home Raided by GRIB Jaya Members; Daughter Held Hostage

DEPOK — The residence of book author Ahmad Bahar in Cimanggis, Depok, West Java, was targeted by dozens of individuals claiming to be members of the GRIB Jaya mass organisation on Sunday (17/5/2026).

The group arrived at approximately 2:00 PM WIB with the intention of locating Ahmad Bahar at his home. However, as the author was not present, the group of men ultimately took his 33-year-old daughter, who was at the house at the time, against her will.

“Yesterday at 2:00 PM, only my children were at home. They were looking for my husband, but he wasn’t there. Eventually, my daughter was forced to go with them so that my husband would meet Hercules at his headquarters,” said Yenni when contacted via telephone on Monday (18/5/2026).

At the time of the raid, Yenni was out of town, while her husband was travelling to deliver a book to the General Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN), Zulkifli Hasan. She received reports from her daughter that numerous unidentified men had arrived at their home.

“I lost contact with my husband; his mobile phone could not be reached,” Yenni added.

She stated that the group of GRIB Jaya members forced their way into the house and searched the premises for Ahmad Bahar. Despite failing to find him, the group refused to disperse.

“They were looking for Mr Ahmad, and my daughter was taken as a hostage until Mr Ahmad meets them. They insisted she come first before they would release her. It was also her birthday, which makes it even more distressing,” she said.

The local neighbourhood head (RW) accompanied the daughter during her transport by the group to ensure her safety.

According to Yenni, the raid was triggered by two issues involving her husband and Hercules, the first being the hacking of her daughter’s mobile phone number last week.
