Jakarta — Exploring collaboration opportunities across various strategic sectors in the Nusantara region, the Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (IKN), Basuki Hadimuljono, welcomed representatives from the Austrian Embassy, led by Chargé d’Affaires ad interim Michael Wislocki and Commercial Counselor Sigmund Nemeti, at the IKN Authority City Hall Office on Wednesday 4 March 2026.

Observing the direct progress of the Nusantara region’s development, the IKN Authority Head and his delegation held discussions with the Austrian representatives regarding various cooperation prospects that could be developed alongside Nusantara’s construction. Basuki explained that Nusantara’s development opens extensive collaboration space from various partners, ranging from local, national, to international levels.

“Nusantara’s development not only presents a new government centre but also builds a complete city ecosystem, from infrastructure, healthcare services, education, to sustainable economic development. Therefore, we are open to various international collaborations that can enrich Nusantara’s development,” Basuki said.

In line with this, Michael Wislocki stated that the visit provided an opportunity for Austria to directly observe Nusantara’s development progress whilst confirming various cooperation prospects that could be developed between the two countries.

“The Austrian Embassy last visited here in 2023 to explore various business opportunities. Currently, we are also following developments related to IKN. We are interested, particularly as embassy representatives, in participating in creating a modern and sustainable forest city in Indonesia,” Michael said.

He also highlighted that Austria, as a technology-focused nation, has various offerings for future cooperation projects. The discussions covered several areas, including smart city development through technological innovation, urban transportation, healthcare services, and strengthening educational and training ecosystems for human resource development in the Nusantara region.

Through this visit, the IKN Authority and Austrian Embassy representatives hope to strengthen communication and open further cooperation opportunities between Indonesia and Austria, particularly in supporting the development of the Nusantara Capital as a sustainable, inclusive, and globally competitive city.
