Australian universities

It has been brought to my attention that on Sept. 21, 1996, in the "Your Letters" column, you ran a letter from Kompas which indicated fraudulent behavior on the part of an individual claiming to be a representative of Australian schools and universities. I would like to respond to that letter as follows.

I am grateful that an Indonesian graduate of my university, Central Queensland University, Australia, brought to my attention the letter which appeared in your paper. I would like to express my appreciation to the writer of this letter for drawing public attention to fraudulent representation of Australian schools and universities. Most Australian educational institutions list the names of their legitimate representatives with the Australian Education Center. People wishing to know more about Central Queensland University, or any other Australian institution can find out the names of legitimate representatives in Indonesia, from the Australian Education Center (tel: 021 522 9675). I also suggest that any case of suspected fraudulent behavior in representing Australian education institutions should be brought to the attention of the Australian Education Center as soon as possible.
