Australian teachers in Flores

MAUMERE, East Nusa Tenggara: Australian Volunteers International will soon send English language teachers to several junior and senior high schools on the island of Flores.

The head of Australian Volunteers International's representative office in East Nusa Tenggara, Leon Jones told The Jakarta Post on Tuesday that the project was the realization of an agreement made by his organization with the provincial office of the Ministry of National Education.

The teachers would arrive this month and be based in five regencies: Ngada, Manggarai, Enda, Sika and East Flores, Jones said.

Each regency will receive two teachers, who will be working in Flores for one year on a contract basis.

"The contract could be extended based on their demand," Jones said, adding that in the future his organization might send teachers of Chinese or Arabic. (54)
