Australian National Deported from Indonesia After 62-Day Overstay

Cirebon (ANTARA) - The Class I Immigration Office TPI Cirebon, West Java, has deported an Australian national, identified by the initials JF, for exceeding his stay permit by 62 days.

The Head of the Class I Immigration Office TPI Cirebon, Komang Trisna Diatmika, stated in Cirebon on Tuesday that JF was deported via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on 4 September 2026.

Action against JF began following information from the public regarding the presence of the Australian national in Kuningan Regency. JF was known to have entered Indonesia using a Visa on Arrival (VoA) and had been residing in Kuningan Regency with his wife, who is an Indonesian citizen.

This information was subsequently followed up by the Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement Team (Inteldakim) through monitoring and inspections of JF. Based on the results of the inspection and data verification, officers discovered that JF’s stay permit had expired, yet he remained in Indonesia for 62 days after the permit’s validity had ended.

Due to this violation, Cirebon Immigration imposed Immigration Administrative Sanctions in the form of deportation and a blacklist, based on Article 78, paragraph (3) of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration. This regulation stipulates that foreign nationals holding stay permits who remain in Indonesia for more than 60 days after their permit expires are subject to deportation and blacklisting.

Komang stated that the monitoring of foreign nationals is conducted not only through administrative inspections but also through field monitoring of their presence. According to him, information from the community also assists officers in detecting foreign nationals suspected of violating immigration regulations.

“Family ties with Indonesian citizens do not automatically exempt foreign nationals from the obligation to comply with stay permit regulations,” he said.

He urged all foreign nationals to pay attention to the validity of their stay permits and to promptly arrange for extensions or changes in immigration status before the expiry date. “We will continue to strengthen supervision through intelligence activities, enforcement, and cooperation with the community and relevant parties to ensure that foreign nationals comply with immigration provisions,” he added.
