Australian National Arrested for Indecent Act in Bali Resident's Yard
A 27-year-old Australian national with the initials BA has been arrested by Badung Police after committing an indecent act in the yard of a resident’s home on Jalan Pantai Berawa, Tibubeneng Village, North Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali.
The indecent act involving BA and a foreign woman whose identity is not yet known was captured on CCTV and went viral on social media.
Bali Police Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Pol Ariasandy, said the suspect, with the initials BA, was successfully arrested before he could flee to Australia. He was detained at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali on Tuesday (25/8) at around 12.00 WITA.
“We successfully detected the face and characteristics of the perpetrator. The team then coordinated with the Class I Special TPI Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, and officers obtained information that the suspect was about to fly back to Australia,” said Ariasandy on Wednesday (26/8).
“The team immediately moved quickly to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, and together with immigration officers, the suspect was secured before boarding the plane,” he added.
Based on preliminary examination results, the perpetrator admitted to his actions. The incident occurred in an alley in front of a resident’s house on Jalan Pantai Berawa. At the time, the perpetrator admitted to meeting a woman at one of the beach clubs in the area while intoxicated.
“After that, the two of them went out and committed an indecent act in front of a resident’s house until they were caught by the homeowner,” he explained.
The perpetrator is currently being held at Badung Police Headquarters for further examination and coordination with immigration authorities regarding his immigration status. Meanwhile, it has not been explained whether the foreign woman has been arrested or not.
For his actions, the perpetrator is charged with violating Article 406 and/or Article 407 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code regarding criminal acts of indecency in public.
“Bali Police will not tolerate any form of legal violation, especially those committed in public places and disturbing the community. We urge all tourists, both domestic and international, to respect the norms, customs, and laws that apply in Bali,” he said.
Previously, a video of two foreign nationals having sex in a residential area went viral on social media.
Acting Head of Public Relations Sub-section of Badung Police, Aiptu Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti, explained that the incident occurred on Saturday (22/8) at around 18.29 WITA.
At that time, witness NKW (47), the homeowner, wanted to place offerings in front of her house. The witness was shocked to see the incident and tried to stop the indecent act by shouting at the two foreigners. However, the warning was ignored by both of them.
The homeowner immediately went inside her house and informed her relatives.
“The two of them carried out the indecent act for 15 minutes. After completing the indecent scene, the two foreigners immediately left the crime scene on foot,” she added.
