KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) - An Australian man was sentenced to six weeks jail, fined and ordered deported for assaulting a Malaysian Airline steward on a flight from London to Kuala Lumpur, news reports said Wednesday.
Johnson Ty Damon was also fined for using foul language on a policeman who arrested him at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Aug. 8, The Sun daily said.
A magistrate in Sepang, about 30 kilometers south of Kuala Lumpur, sentenced the 28-year-old welder to prison to six weeks in prison for assaulting steward Abdul Aziz Zainal Adidin and six weeks for abusing police, to be served concurrently.
He also fined Damon 1,500 ringgit ($394) Abdul Aziz's assault and 500 ringgit ($131) for abusing the policeman.
