Australian defense minister visits RP

MANILA (AFP): Australian Defense Industry Minister Bronwyn
Brown arrived yesterday for a two-day visit to the Philippines to
promote Australian defense products, the Australian embassy said
here.

Bishop and industry representatives accompanying her will take
part in a seminar on the Australian defense sector today which
will showcase Australian products and look into possible defense
industry cooperation with the Philippines.

She will also meet the Philippines' defense, foreign affairs
and industry ministers before leaving later today.

Her visit is intended to show Australia's interest in taking
part in the Philippines' planned 331.62 billion-peso (US$9.5
billion) military modernization program, the embassy said.
