SURABAYA (JP): The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade)
launched the Business Club Australia here on Tuesday, as part of
the Australian government's "Australia Open for Business" program
for the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
At the launch Austrade's Senior Trade Commissioner Bruce
Wallace said the elite business club was established to boost
links between international and Australian businesses under the
Olympic banner, and to ensure that Australia gained maximum
business and benefits from the Games.
"We are encouraging the business community in Indonesia to
take part and participate in the Olympic events," he said.
Austrade Indonesia has scheduled four events to launch
Business Club Australia in Indonesian at four key business
centers, namely Jakarta on June 28, Medan on July 2, Surabaya on
July 6 and Bali on July 8.
He said the club currently has 400 members in Indonesia and it
is still accepting new members. Club membership includes business
matching with international members, information on a whole range
of Australian business opportunities and international business
networking. (26/gis)
