Aussie moved to Maesa jail

PALU, Central Sulawesi: The Palu immigration office has moved
Raul Antonio, 39, an Australian tourist who on Monday tried to
torch an immigration office cell, to Maesa penitentiary before
deporting him.

"The immigration office does not want to take any further risk
and has therefore decided to move him to the Maesa penitentiary
while waiting for his deportation," chief warden of the Palu
immigration cell, Yusuf Sadu said on Friday.

Antonio's deportation requirements have been completed and the
Palu immigration office has contacted the Australian Embassy in
Jakarta about the plan, Yusuf said.

He said Antonio's visa expired on Dec. 17 last year but he
stayed in the city until Dec. 25. He was later apprehended after
making trouble in a local restaurant on Jan 7.

Last Monday (11/1) Antonio tried to set fire to his mattress
in his cell. The next day he tried to escape but the warders
managed to capture him again after a one-day search.
