Aussie model denies possession of pills
DENPASAR, Bali: Australian model Michelle Leslie insisted on Friday that the two Ecstasy tablets found by the police in her handbag during a drug raid in August at a Bali dance party did not belong to her.
"The pills belonged to (an acquaintance named) Mia who left them in some tissue paper inside my bag," the 24-year-old Adelaide resident told the Denpasar District Court during her trial.
Police officers are now looking for Mia.
Leslie said that when the police launched the drug raid at GM Cultural Park and checked out her bag, she had communication problems with the officer as he could not speak English.
"The officer in charge could not speak English, while on the other hand I could not speak Bahasa, so the officer accused me as the owner of the (Ecstasy)," she said.
Leslie could be imprisoned for up to ten years, if convicted. -- Antara
