Aussie firms join expo
JAKARTA (JP): Nineteen Australian companies will take part in Building and Construction Indonesia'97, a five-day building and construction exhibition at the Jakarta Convention Center from Sept. 16 to Sept. 20.
The Australian companies will display the latest technology in insulation, bathroom and kitchen equipment, solar water heaters, concrete, steel, wooden, stone and clay building materials, electrical systems, doors and windows.
The Australian Trade Commission's senior representative in Jakarta, Bruce Wallace, said the number of Australian companies participating in the exhibition reflected the continuing and steady growth in bilateral trade.
"Two-way trade between Indonesia and Australia grew to almost A$5 billion in 1996, an increase of 30 percent over the previous year," Wallace said.
"Within this growth, construction materials and related infrastructure are significant areas of increased trade," he said.
