Audience with Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure, Kakorlantas Affirms Commitment to Support Zero ODOL 2027

The Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas), Inspector General Wibowo, led an audience with the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development (Kemenkoinfrawil) at the Kakorlantas meeting room in Jakarta on Wednesday (19/8/2026). In his remarks, Kakorlantas affirmed the Traffic Corps’ commitment to supporting the government’s policy to achieve Zero Over Dimension and Over Load (ODOL) by 2027.

“Law enforcement is the last step. A downstream step. And it is not the primary step. We remain focused on preventive actions or activities,” said Kakorlantas.

Inspector General Wibowo explained that over dimension and over load practices have a significant impact on traffic safety, the environment, and infrastructure.

In addition to affecting safety, over dimension and over load vehicles also contribute to road infrastructure damage. A number of national roads, provincial roads, and even village roads that are not designated for vehicles with excess loads are at risk of damage.

“This phenomenon of over dimension or overload certainly has an extraordinary impact on traffic safety and also infrastructure. Then there is the environmental impact. Exhaust emissions will also be higher and this will certainly have an effect, including an infrastructure impact,” he said.

Kakorlantas expressed the Traffic Corps’ readiness to fully support the Zero Over Dimension and Over Load policy in 2027. However, its implementation needs to be carried out in a well-targeted and phased manner, especially considering the momentum of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr which are close to the start of the policy’s implementation.

“This Zero Over Dimension and Overload activity must truly be carried out softly, properly, and in a well-targeted manner so that it does not affect the availability of basic necessities, including price stability ahead of the fasting month and Eid al-Fitr,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Coordination and Connectivity at Kemenkoinfra, Odo R.M Manuhutu, expressed appreciation for the collaboration that has been established with the Traffic Corps. Going forward, this cooperation is expected to be continuously enhanced, including through strengthening preemptive and preventive measures.

“We might create milestone meetings every two months until before January. We will see what the milestones are, the difficulties faced by our colleagues from the Traffic Corps, and what support is needed from ministries and agencies,” he said.

Odo revealed that his office also requested the Traffic Corps’ support so that regional offices could be utilised as part of socialisation activities. By involving all stakeholders, it is hoped that the public and business actors will understand that the Zero Over Dimension and Over Load policy is a government policy supported collectively.

“During socialisation, we can also use the Traffic Corps’ regional offices, so that later, as we have done in the regions, we use the Transportation Agency’s office, invite all stakeholders, so everyone can see that the government is united in providing support,” he concluded.
