Competition in Indonesia’s automotive industry is becoming increasingly crowded with the arrival of new brands. However, not all players are able to record high sales figures, with some brands shifting only a handful of units in June 2026. Data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO) shows that, based on wholesale distribution from factories to dealers, Audi recorded the lowest sales with just one unit sold during the month. Volvo Cars followed with only 8 units sold, Scania with 10 units, and Maxus and Volkswagen each with 18 units. The situation was similar in the retail sales figures from dealers to consumers, where Audi again sat at the bottom with only 1 unit sold throughout June. Volvo Cars recorded 8 units, Subaru 9 units, Scania 10 units, and Maxus 15 units. Overall, the national automotive market still recorded growth in June 2026. GAIKINDO noted that wholesale sales reached 77,550 units, a 32.9% increase compared to the 58,363 units sold in June 2025. Meanwhile, retail sales reached 74,507 units, growing 19.6% year-on-year.
