Auction to be held at philately event

JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Philatelist Association is to hold a one-day festival on Saturday at its headquarters on Jl. Pos 2 in Central Jakarta.

Organizers Sri Utami and Riyanto said on Thursday that a wide range of stamps and other postal items would be auctioned.

"No less than 300 lots of stamps and other philately objects worth some Rp 100 million (US$13,160) will be put up for auction," the organizers said in a statement.

The auction, which will be open to the public, will include stamps issued during the Dutch colonial period, the Japanese invasion and the revolution period in the early days of the country's independence.

A short course for philately judging panels will also be held. The panels' participants hail from several provinces.

The association will also hold its annual meeting on the same day. (bsr)
