Attorney General's Office Urged to Investigate Former Jampidsus Febrie Case Thoroughly Without Compromise

The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) is being urged to prove its integrity by thoroughly investigating the alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU) case involving former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah. Following the transfer of the case from the police, the Kejagung now bears a double burden of proof to show that law enforcement does not go blunt when targeting its own internal members.

Public figure and writer HRM Khalilur R Abdullah Sahlawiy reminded that the case transfer, which had sparked polemic, will only be considered legitimate in the public’s eye if it is conducted with full transparency and without political compromise.

“Because the mechanism is unusual, the Attorney General’s Office now bears a multiplied burden of proof. The public will not accept anything less than a thorough process, namely detention, an open trial, asset seizure for the state, and a commensurate punishment,” Khalilur said in a written statement on Wednesday (15/7/2026).

Khalilur also highlighted the meeting between Attorney General ST Burhanuddin and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo in Kebayoran Baru on Monday (13/7). “The people have seen your salute. Now prove that the handshake is a grip of justice, not a grip of compromise. Resolve this case in the clearest possible way,” he stressed.

He further noted the gravity of the alleged crimes. As a former official who conducted prosecutions for corruption cases in Indonesia, Febrie is considered to deeply understand legal intricacies, including loopholes for hiding criminal assets. “If the allegations are true, then this is a betrayal from the deepest point; the warehouse guard who allegedly robbed his own warehouse. An extraordinary crime by an extraordinary person demands extraordinary handling: extraordinarily fast, extraordinarily open, and extraordinarily thorough,” Khalilur elaborated.
