JAKARTA - The Attorney General’s Office has uncovered the practice of using shadow companies in the alleged money laundering case (TPPU) involving former Supreme Court official Zarof Ricar (ZR).

Director of Investigation for the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi stated that the company was established by Zarof together with Agung Winarno (AW) to hold the proceeds of crime, which were then disguised through various financial schemes.

“The Special Criminal Investigation Team of the Attorney General’s Office has successfully identified a shadow company or ghost/shadow company established by suspect AW jointly with suspect ZR as a company for holding the proceeds of the money laundering crime by ZR and other affiliated parties,” said Syarief in his statement on Wednesday (22/4/2026).

Investigators found five containers filled with important documents related to asset ownership.

In addition, investigators seized 1,046 documents, including land deeds, buildings, palm oil plantations, company and hotel documents.

Investigators also seized various high-value assets such as money in rupiah and foreign currencies, deposits, luxury cars, and gold bars.

From the tracing results, investigators found various pieces of evidence and leads pointing to efforts to hide assets belonging to the suspect through several shell companies or paper companies.

In this case, the Attorney General’s Office has named Zarof and Agung as money laundering suspects.

“They used several paper companies in activities to hide assets from criminal proceeds,” Syarief said.

For information, Zarof Ricar had previously been proven guilty in the case of conspiracy in attempted bribery of a Supreme Court judge as well as receiving gratification worth more than Rp 1 trillion.

The value consisted of approximately Rp 915 billion in cash and 51 kilograms of gold.
