Attorney General's Office to Immediately Examine Sony Sonjaya Regarding Justice Collaborator Application

The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has scheduled an examination of former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sony Sonjaya, to confirm his application to become a justice collaborator (JC).

This was conveyed by the Director of Investigation at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, on Saturday, 13 June 2026. “We are studying the application. In the near future, we will conduct an examination of the suspect SS (Sony Sonjaya) to confirm the JC application he submitted to us,” Syarief said at the Kejagung.

Sony Sonjaya was named a suspect in a case of alleged corruption in the management of the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG) for the 2025-2026 period. He was designated a suspect on 3 June 2026, along with former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana (DH) and former Deputy Head for Organisational Development and Institutional Support Lodewyk Pusung (LP).

Following his designation as a suspect and subsequent examination, Sony Sonjaya stated his intention to apply to become a justice collaborator to help uncover the case that ensnared him. Through his lawyer, Krisna Murti, Sony Sonjaya sent a letter of application to become a justice collaborator to Jampidsus on Monday, 8 June 2026.

Syarief stated that his office has received Sony Sonjaya’s application letter and is currently scrutinising it to understand what information will be provided and what evidence the investigators have already obtained. This will determine whether the application is accepted or not. “Because JC is granted to a perpetrator. A perpetrator who is willing to become a witness to expose a larger role,” he said.

Based on that information, Syarief said, investigators will determine whether there is a larger role and where the authority to execute it lies. “We are currently studying that.”

Regarding the names Sony Sonjaya mentioned in his examination report (BAP), Syarief stated that his office will first examine the suspect to extract information related to the JC application. “We will focus on that first. After receiving this (JC application), we will examine the suspect SS so that the person concerned can explain to us what information he has obtained. So, it’s not just names, but what the information is,” Syarief said.
