Attorney General's Office to Continue Pursuing Eddy Tansil's Assets Until Obligations Are Settled
The Attorney General’s Office will continue to pursue assets belonging to fugitive Eddy Tansil to cover the obligation of Rp 500 billion in state compensation. Eddy Tansil is a suspect in the Bank Bapindo credit fraud case who escaped from Cipinang Prison, East Jakarta, in 1998. Head of the Asset Recovery Agency at the Attorney General’s Office, Kuntandi, explained that Eddy Tansil was sentenced to pay Rp 500 billion in restitution, but only Rp 50 billion in assets have been seized so far, comprising three properties with land and buildings, and 16 vacant plots. “We will certainly continue to pursue this convict’s assets until his obligations are fully settled,” Kuntandi said at the Government Communications Office on Thursday (24/6/2026). Prosecutors have already identified that Eddy Tansil still holds several other assets, so further investigation is ongoing. “Eddy Tansil still has several assets which we are currently investigating, and once confirmed, we will immediately take over and secure them,” Kuntandi added. Previously, the Attorney General’s Office symbolically handed over non-tax state revenue from state asset recovery, with Attorney General ST Burhanuddin presenting it to Purbaya. The total value of assets successfully recovered for the state treasury reached Rp 1.02 trillion. The non-tax state revenue received by the Ministry of Finance comprised Rp 978 billion from the BPA Fair 2026 auction, Rp 30.9 billion from land and building asset tracing, and Rp 51.6 billion from asset tracing of convicted corruption fugitive Eddy Tansil. Additionally, Rp 19.1 billion in auction proceeds was handed over to victims.
