Attorney General's Office to Appoint Officials and Prepare Temporary Offices for Seven New District Prosecutors' Offices

The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) will soon appoint structural officials to fill positions at seven newly established District Prosecutors’ Offices (Kejari). The office is also preparing temporary infrastructure to ensure the new branches can commence operations immediately.

Head of the AGO Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, stated that the appointments and temporary office preparations are being made so that the new Kejari can carry out their duties without delay. He added that the construction of permanent buildings and full-scale operations will be implemented gradually.

The establishment of the seven new offices follows the enactment of Presidential Regulation No. 40 of 2026, signed by President Prabowo Subianto on 2 July 2026. The regulation mandates the creation of Kejari in Pangandaran (West Java), Serang Regency (Banten), Tana Tidung (North Kalimantan), Kubu Raya (West Kalimantan), Lima Puluh Kota (West Sumatra), Raja Ampat (Southwest Papua), and Pesisir Barat (Lampung).

Anang explained that the new offices were formed to meet institutional needs in regions that now have their own local governments. He emphasised that the presence of a district prosecutor’s office is essential to complete the criminal justice system and support law enforcement in these areas. The regulation stipulates that the duties, functions, and organisational structure of the new offices will be determined by the Attorney General following approval from the minister responsible for state apparatus.
