Investigators have examined 47 witnesses, seized documents and requested calculations from experts.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Investigators from the Attorney General’s Office of Special Crimes (Jampidsus) have taken over the handling of an alleged corruption case concerning the use and utilisation of forest areas for plantations by PT PSMI on land belonging to PT Inhutani V in Lampung.

Saiful Bahri Siregar, Director of Investigation at Jampidsus of the Attorney General’s Office, said that following the takeover, investigators have carried out a number of investigative measures.

“Investigators have examined 47 witnesses, seized documents, and requested calculations from experts,” he said at the Jampidsus building of the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta.

Saiful said that from the series of investigations, there is preliminary evidence of unlawful acts by PT PSMI through the planting of sugar cane plantations within the PT Inhutani V Lampung area, resulting in losses to state finances.

“The land cleared for the sugar cane plantation covers an area of 1,268 hectares that overlaps with the PT Inhutani concession. As for the remainder, it lies within the forest area, which is still under our investigation,” he said.

Saiful did not explain the reasons why the Attorney General’s Office took over the handling of the case from the Lampung High Prosecutor’s Office.

He said investigators are still examining a number of witnesses and seizing evidence in order to construct the criminal events and identify the responsible parties.

Previously, the Lampung High Prosecutor’s Office had been investigating the alleged corruption in the use and utilisation of forest areas for plantations by PT PSMI on land belonging to PT Inhutani in Lampung Province.

In February 2026, PT PSMI deposited Rp100 billion with the Lampung High Prosecutor’s Office as a form of restitution for the state financial losses allegedly arising in the case.

The funds were subsequently placed in the Other Government Accounts (RPL) of the Lampung High Prosecutor’s Office.
