Attorney General's Office Summons Karo District Prosecutor Amid Controversy in Amsal Sitepu Case

Jakarta – The Head of the Public Relations and Legal Information Centre of the Attorney General’s Office, Anang Supriatna, stated that his office had summoned the Head of the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office, Danke Rajagukguk, to the Attorney General’s Office. In addition, the prosecutors handling the case of videographer Amsal Sitepu were also called in. “On Saturday, 4 April evening, they were indeed secured by the Attorney General’s intelligence team,” Anang said in his statement on Sunday, 5 April 2026. He explained that the Attorney General’s Office would review the case handling by the Karo prosecutors, including their professionalism. The Attorney General’s Office will later announce the results of the examination. According to him, the team will prioritise caution and uphold the presumption of innocence principle. “If violations are proven later, there will be internal sanctions; we just wait for the results,” he said. Previously, the House of Representatives’ Commission III had requested the Deputy Attorney General for Supervision to comprehensively evaluate the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office handling the case of Amsal Christy Sitepu. “And to submit a written report on the evaluation results to Commission III of the House of Representatives within one month,” said the Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Habiburokhman, who read out the meeting conclusions with the Karo District Prosecutor and Amsal Sitepu at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Thursday, 2 April 2026.
