Attorney General's Office States Examination of Former Karo District Prosecutor Not Related to Criminal Offences

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has emphasised that the internal examination of former Head of the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office, Danke Rajagukguk, is not related to any criminal offence. Head of the Legal Information Centre at Kejagung, Anang Supriatna, stated that the ongoing process remains internal and focuses more on managerial and professional aspects. “The process is being handled internally, and it will be forwarded accordingly. He’s already been replaced, so that’s sufficient. But it’s not a criminal matter, no,” Anang said at the Kejagung building in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/4/2026). “It’s essentially managerial and professional,” he added. Anang also confirmed that Danke no longer holds the position of Kajari Karo. He has undergone a diagonal transfer and now occupies a functional role within the Attorney General’s Office. The position of Kajari Karo is now filled by Edmond Novvery Purba, who previously served as Kajari Nias Selatan. The transfer is documented in the Decree of the Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia Number KEP-IV-347/C/04/2026 dated 13 April 2026. Danke’s replacement comes amid public attention regarding the handling of the case involving videographer Amsal Christy Sitepu in Karo Regency. In that case, the defendant was initially charged with corruption but was ultimately acquitted by the court. Danke has been examined by Kejagung since Saturday (4/4/2026) in connection with the Amsal Sitepu case. In addition to Danke, the Republic of Indonesia Attorney General’s Office has also secured the Head of the Special Criminal Offences Section (Kasi Pidsus) of the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office, Reinhard Harve Sembiring, as well as two public prosecutors (JPU) who handled the videographer Amsal Sitepu case.
