Attorney General's Office Speaks Out on Police Searches Related to 3 Corruption Cases

Jakarta – The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has finally spoken out regarding the series of raids conducted by the National Police’s Corruption Crime Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) together with the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police in the investigation of several suspected corruption and money laundering cases.

The raids, which took place from Wednesday, 8 July 2026, until the early hours of Thursday, drew public attention after investigators seized evidence of extraordinary value from a number of locations, including gold bars and cash amounting to hundreds of billions of rupiah.

In response, the Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre (Kapuspenkum), Anang Supriatna, affirmed that the institution respects the legal process currently being carried out by the police.

“Therefore, we respect the entire ongoing investigative process in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations,” Anang said in a video statement provided to the media, quoted on Thursday, 9 July 2026.

Anang said that the Attorney General’s Office is still awaiting the results of the investigation conducted by National Police investigators, including regarding the objects searched, the evidence seized, and the parties linked to the cases.

For this reason, he reminded the public not to rush to conclusions based solely on information circulating in the media and social media.

“We urge the public not to build conclusions or opinions linking a person or an institution to suspected criminal acts based solely on information developing in the mass media or on social media. Every law enforcement process must continue to uphold the principle of the presumption of innocence,” he said.

He also affirmed that Kejagung continues to support every law enforcement process carried out professionally, objectively, transparently, and accountably by all law enforcement officials in accordance with their authority.

“We believe that every law enforcement process is carried out based on valid evidence and applicable legal mechanisms. We also urge the public to seek official information from the law enforcement officials handling the cases,” he added.

As previously reported, the joint investigation conducted by Kortastipidkor of the National Police together with the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police into several suspected corruption cases continues to develop.
