Attorney General's Office Scrutinises SPPG Units Affiliated with Dadan et al. Regarding MBG Corruption
The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has stated it will coordinate with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) regarding the Nutrition Service Fulfillment Units (SPPG) affiliated with suspects in the corruption case involving the management of the MBG programme.
Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, Director of Investigation for the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, stated that this action is being taken to inventory which SPPG units are actually ineligible to serve as partners for the BGN within the MBermaslahat (MBG) programme. “We will coordinate with the BGN because we are currently inventorying which affiliated foundations are not entitled to receive funds or act as partners for the BGN,” he said during a press conference on Wednesday.
In this case, Syarief explained that the MBG programme should ideally be managed by foundations affiliated with the recipient schools. However, he noted that in practice, many SPPG units were appointed because they had affiliations with high-ranking BGN officials. Syarief mentioned that these foundations essentially did not meet the requirements to become SPPG partners.
“Nevertheless, they were appointed through the manipulation of the verification process on the BGN partner portal, driven by the influence of the suspects,” he explained. He further clarified that these actions were carried out by Dadan, alongside two former Deputy Heads of the BGN, Sony Sonjaya and Lodewyk Pusung. Syarief explained that in return, the foundations affiliated with the perpetrators received daily incentives amounting to billions of rupiah.
“These foundations receive billions of rupiah in incentives every day, and the foundations in question are affiliated with individuals identified as DH, SS, and LP,” he added. As a result of these actions, Syarief stated that state financial losses have occurred. The three individuals have been named suspects and are currently detained at the Salemba Detention Centre and the South Jakarta District Attorney’s office.
