The Attorney General’s Office has revealed the reason the Intelligence Team detained the Head of the Serdang Bedagai District Prosecutor’s Office, North Sumatra, Amriyata. Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, stated in Jakarta on Tuesday that Amriyata is suspected of committing violations in the execution of his duties. However, he did not explain the violations in detail. “After being followed up by the intelligence team, it is strongly suspected that there were violations, unprocedural conduct, inappropriate and unprofessional handling of work. There was a conflict of interest,” he said. He stated that Amriyata is currently being examined further by the Attorney General’s Office Intelligence Team. “If it is an ethical violation, it will be handed over to the Oversight Division. If there is a criminal process, it will be handed over to the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes,” he said. Amriyata is a career prosecutor who had not long served as the Serdang Bedagai District Prosecutor. He was officially inaugurated by the then Head of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office, Harli Siregar, on 5 November 2025 at the North Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office Hall. In that position, Amriyata replaced Rufina Ginting, who received a promotion as Assistant for Development at the Bangka Belitung Islands High Prosecutor’s Office. Before being entrusted to lead the Serdang Bedagai District Prosecutor’s Office, Amriyata served as the Lingga District Prosecutor within the jurisdiction of the Riau Islands High Prosecutor’s Office. Amriyata’s career as a prosecutor is known to have been largely spent in various prosecutor’s work units in the regions before finally being entrusted with the position of head of a district prosecutor’s office.
