Attorney General's Office reveals long-term investigation into Free Nutritious Meal corruption case
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagund) has revealed that it has been studying the alleged corruption case regarding the management of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) for the 2025–2026 period for a significant period.
The Director of Investigation for the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the Attorney General’s Office, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, stated that the Prosecutor’s Office pays close attention to programmes intended for the public, including the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) initiative.
“In truth, we have been studying this for quite some time; however, we required extensive data, which may be why the transition from investigation to prosecution appeared so rapid,” he said at the Jampidsus Building, Jakarta, on Thursday.
He added that following the data collection process, the Attorney General’s Office began its investigation last week, and the case was elevated to the prosecution stage on Friday (29/5). “This is because we had indeed studied it previously, and for quite a long time,” he remarked.
The three suspects are the former Head of the BGN, Dadan Hindayana, and two former Deputy Heads of the BGN, Lodewyk Pusung and Sony Sonjaya. They are alleged to have unlawfully appointed affiliated foundations as partners for the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) and are suspected of conducting unlawful procurement processes for both goods and services.
Due to their actions, the suspects are charged with violating Article 603 in conjunction with Article 20, points a or c of Law Number 1 of 2023 regarding the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes, as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001. The three suspects have been detained for the next 20 days, effective from Wednesday (3/6), at the Salemba Detention Centre, under the jurisdiction of the Attorney General’s Office and the South Jakarta District Attorney’s Office.
