The Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia has revealed at least 12 suspected corruption cases involving state officials and private parties, with state financial losses reaching staggering or substantial amounts.

“These strategic cases not only involve large state financial losses, but also impact the national economy, natural resource governance, the environment, and the interests of the wider public,” said the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Among the cases being handled is the tin trading governance at PT Timah Tbk for the 2015–2022 period, which resulted in significant state financial losses and affected the national economy. Another case involves the governance of crude oil and refinery products at PT Pertamina (2018–2023), with state financial and economic losses amounting to Rp285.017 trillion.

The next case concerns financial management and investment funds at PT Asabri (2012–2019 period), with state financial losses also being substantial, valued at Rp22.788 trillion. This is followed by the investment fund case at PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (2008–2018 period), with state financial losses of Rp16.8 trillion.

Another corruption case involves the granting of CPO export facilities and its derivatives, with state financial losses valued at Rp6.047 trillion. “Investigators are also calculating state economic losses amounting to Rp12.312 trillion,” he added.

He continued that another case being handled is the oil palm plantation business activities of PT Duta Palma Group in Indragiri Hulu Regency, with state losses valued at Rp4.798 trillion and 7.85 million US dollars, as well as state economic losses of Rp73.92 trillion. The case of aircraft procurement at PT Garuda Indonesia resulted in state losses of 609.81 million US dollars, equivalent to Rp8.819 trillion.

Next is the BTS 4G procurement case at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (2020–2022), with state financial losses of Rp8.032 trillion. Then, the textile importation corruption case at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (2018–2020), with state financial losses of Rp183 billion and economic losses of Rp1.646 trillion. Also, the education digitalisation programme case at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology for 2019–2022, with state financial losses of Rp1.98 trillion.

“The most recent case we are handling is the governance of the free nutritious meal programme at the National Nutrition Agency for 2025–2026, with six suspects from former BGN leadership and private parties,” he disclosed. The value of state financial losses in the free nutritious meal case is still being audited by the Finance and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP). “The investigation is still being developed, and the calculation of state financial losses is being carried out by auditors at BPKP,” he explained.

The former Director of Investigations at Jampidsus stated that corruption eradication must be focused and directed at cases concerning the livelihoods of the people and the interests of the state or government programmes. Consequently, Jampidsus has issued Circular Letter Number 1, Month 3, Year 2025, prioritising the handling of cases related to the public’s basic needs and strategic sectors, particularly food, energy, water, the creative economy, the green economy, and the blue economy. “Corruption in these sectors is not merely a legal violation, but a direct threat to the basic rights of the people, economic resilience, and the sustainability of national development,” he said.
