Attorney General's Office Rejects Sony Sonjaya's Justice Collaborator Request
The Attorney General’s Office has rejected a request for justice collaborator (JC) status submitted by Sony Sonjaya, a suspect in an alleged corruption case concerning the management of the Free Nutritious Meal Programme (MBG) at the National Nutrition Agency for the 2025 to 2026 period. The rejection was conveyed by the Head of the Attorney General’s Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, in a press release on Wednesday (24/6/2026).
According to Anang, the investigating team from the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes had received the JC application letter from Sony’s legal counsel. He explained that a justice collaborator is a person involved in an organised crime who is considered crucial in uncovering the crime and can provide evidence to implicate other suspects.
Anang cited the provisions of Law Number 31 of 2014 concerning the Protection of Witnesses and Victims, as well as Supreme Court Circular Letter Number 4 of 2011 and the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes’ Letter Number B-1964/F/Fd.1/09/2017 regarding procedures for granting justice collaborator status. He noted that the investigating team determined Sony Sonjaya is one of the main perpetrators in the case, and therefore his application to become a justice collaborator could not be granted.
