Attorney General's Office Recovers Rp131.5 Trillion in State Losses from Corruption Cases Since 2020
The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has recorded the successful recovery of state financial losses amounting to Rp131.5 trillion through the handling of special criminal cases during the period from 2020 to 2026. This achievement was obtained through the seizure of assets and various coercive measures carried out by investigators until the assets were handed over to the Asset Recovery Agency (BPA).
Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah stated that the figure originates from cases that have been decided by the courts and have permanent legal force. “The amount of state financial loss recovery through the special criminal route in the period from 2020 to 2026, from the amount determined based on court decisions that have permanent legal force or are inkrah, is Rp131,527,786,065,164.89,” Febrie said in Jakarta on Wednesday (24/6).
According to Febrie, this achievement is inseparable from a paradigm shift in case handling within the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes. The Kejagung now prioritises strategic cases that have a broad impact on society and the national economy. He explained that investigators not only consider the magnitude of state losses but also the impact of cases on natural resource governance, the environment, and the public interest. “Corruption eradication must be focused on cases concerning the livelihoods of the people and the interests of the state or government programmes,” he said.
Throughout the period, the Special Crimes Division handled at least 12 strategic corruption cases. Among them is the alleged corruption in the governance of the Free Nutritious Meal Programme (MBG), which has ensnared six suspects, although the value of state losses is still being calculated by the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).
Additionally, the Kejagung handled a corruption case involving textile imports at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise for the 2018-2020 period, with state losses reaching Rp184 billion and national economic losses of Rp1.646 trillion. There is also an alleged corruption case in the education digitalisation programme at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology for the 2019-2022 period, with state losses of approximately Rp1.97 trillion.
Febrie also detailed the recovery of state losses by year. The highest value was recorded in 2026, reaching Rp40.5 trillion. Meanwhile, in 2025 and 2023, the figures were Rp24.5 trillion and Rp24.4 trillion, respectively. In 2021, the value of state loss recovery reached Rp22.6 trillion. Subsequently, in 2020 it was Rp8.3 trillion, in 2022 around Rp6.3 trillion, and in 2024 it was recorded at Rp4.6 trillion.
